does it happen to you?

sometimes when i looked at my own photo, i don't recognise that person in the picture anymore.

Feels like the person in the picture is someone else instead of me.

Guess I had a long day.

New York Post Continued..

Well I was writing and posting about New york last night till I almost fell asleep. So I am continuing here. Basically there was a couple of my friends from NUS Overseas College from california that spent our new year in New York and we all verbally agreed to meet up at Times Square to do the count down because there was so much talk about it and every time when we were in singapore they will always feature count down in new york Times Square as one of the highlights on the News. But I must admit that I chickened out on the New Year Eve itself and Boy! I was glad for that. For out of the 7 days i spent in New york, that day must have the worst weather with rain, snow and sleet all happening on the same day! And Times square is just a street and its even smaller then Orchard Road! Basically people go there very early, like 3 pm! and stand to get a spot. Then they are fenced up as sections of the road gets filled up. They carry on this fencing process till as more people turn up. So if you are there reasonable early, you get a 'spot' but you can't go anywhere(not even to pee) cos you will not be able to come back again. Then no bags allowed also due to security reasons so its no water,no food, no toilet break and out in the freezing cold...erm do you think i will be stupid enough to go watch a 'ball drop'?

White House.. but so small only!

Central Park! And there was a nice skating Rink there! hmm but i don't know how to skate. =(

Kaibei, Tommy and jj. Tommy was so kind to lend me his house. =)

Photo of the Great Mall in the background.

Statue of Liberty...

Think I pretty much missed Millenium Swing in Singapore cos that was so enjoyable and it happened during one of the best period of my life.

Alrite so there we spent countdown in the comforts of our hotel room and celebrate lucky qihui's b'day.

Then we went Washington DC on the 2nd of Jan and I must say I am glad that we went there. For one the enviroment was better, hotel was more comfortable, sights were nicer and people seem less scary.. like less blacks on the streets etc. But food was bad.. can't find decent places to eat there. However, its cool to visit all those famous buildings and take photos so at least I can say that I have been there although I thought the white house was a disappoinment cos it appeared so small. Even smaller than The Istanna we have in SG. But its cool to be at the Albraham Lincoln Memorial cos we see it in movies and now I am walking down that long grass patch with the pool and the Capitol Building in the background. Didn't take too many nice pics tho cos the sky was always gloomy. =(

Went back to NY on the 5th where we parted ways and Kaibei and sisters took a flight to Seattle where they will drive up to Vancouver to meet kaibei's old 'pal'. But that's another story.

I bunked over at a Ri junior's house who was kind enough to put me up. Met up with and old JC 'crash' whom I have not seen for 6 years and we had dinner with her collegue.

Then it was 'home sweet home' for me.

Dear commented that I don't sound happy when I was on holiday when I spoke with her on the phone. Perhaps I was missing something. Someone.

Didn't had too much time for myself during the first 5 months till now. I was either out or had work or had meeting etc. no 'self' time and when i had on this trip and sometime after i come back that i realised that i miss dear.

talked to dear in the last week more than i did in the past month combined but i still felt that wasn't enough. hmm. But I am really glad that we are doing well. I did have faith that we will pull thru but of cos I never had the experience of knowing what it will really be like not to be able to see each other for 1 year but I am glad the days are passing by fast.

Thanks dear for being there for me.

OverDue post

Hi.. This christmas and New year, I soft of found myself in familar company but in a total different environment. Firstly, I met up with my sec sch buddies that I have know since 13? wow.. that's like 10 years man if we were to really count.. hmm that makes me realised that technically I met Wanzhen (16) when she was 7 and qihui (22) when she was 13. Woah that's a long time.. to see someone grow up.

Hehe. Anyway I had a road trip to the east coast with Kaibei, my bball buddy/captain from RI days and his very dear sisters. Have this tradition of spending new year's eve with them because 31st happened to be qihui's b'day and there will ususally be a birthday/count down buddy where some of us will be invited.. so lucky lucky qihui gets extra presents from her brother's pals ususally.

Also had the opportunity to meet up with the Bio Valley NOC people who rented a cabin and kind Iris had invited us to spend christmas eve with them altho I wouldn't say we were in time for their christmas party as we only arrived in the dead of the night at (2.35a.m) by which almost everyone had hit dreamland. And Iris..I am still waiting for the photos...*tsk tsk*

So there we were, with some extraordinary friends from Singapore..a really nice fella by the name of Kelly, (yes that is his name.. just like my brother in law). Taking a trek through ice and snow to the 'frozen' waterfall. It was supposed to be a frozen waterfall and that's the selling point but by the time we saw it.. we found it to be nothing fascinating but it did gave us a good reason to walk in the snow for a good 45 mins. haha.

Then it was road trip for the 4 of us and we found ourselves to be in Canada for the next stop. Alto Kaibei 'conveniently forgot about this passport and there we were trying to get his classmate to break into his apartment and get his passport and fedex overnight to us. Fianlly, when we learnt that it will cost 300 bucks, we gave up the thoughts of spending the night in Canada but instead get a hotel as close to the border as we can, so that the next day me,qihui and wanzhen can go for a day trip over there while kaibei 'rot' in hotel. He secretly had the plan of spending the whole day indulging in his war craft but only to find it backfired because his gaming cd was left in the car by mistake, and the car was with me. haha.

Wine trail in Canada was a blast! The scenery was good, the people was friendly. And most important of all the wine was good. But because we were in a hurry, we kinda went on an empty stomach and after a couple of 'wine tasting' we could really feel the wine in our empty stomachs and that's when we decided to stop. Well that was also near the end of the day so we didn't reeally have too much of a choice.. haha.

Then it was back to New York city where we did the tourist's stuff. New York is really not our favourite leg of the trip because there were simply too MANY tourist. Can you imagine we had to queue for 4 hours just to get tickets and go up the Empire State building? Statue of Libery took us up to 3 hours before it looks like from the top. I like the food at "Astor place" or (St Marks), basically there little korea as well.
